Frequently Asked Questions
What is Stylebook Directory?
Stylebook Directory is a visual directory created specifically for the hair and beauty industry.
Instead of searching through endless lists of names, clients can search by the look, treatment or service they want, browse real work created by professionals, and then discover the person behind it.
Let your images do the talking.
What can I use Stylebook Directory for?
Stylebook Directory helps you discover hair and beauty professionals through their work.
Whether you’re looking for a new hairdresser, barber, colourist, nail technician, beauty professional or another specialist, you can browse images and find professionals whose work matches what you’re looking for.
How do I find a professional?
Simply search the Directory using the service, style or category you’re interested in.
Browse the images that catch your eye and click through to the professional’s profile to find out more about them.
Can I search for professionals near me?
Yes. Stylebook Directory is designed to help you discover professionals and businesses relevant to your search and location.
Can I search by the style I want rather than someone’s name?
Absolutely – that’s one of the main reasons Stylebook Directory exists.
You don’t always know who you’re looking for. You just know what you want.
Search for inspiration, find an image you love and discover the professional who created it.
Are the images on Stylebook Directory the professional’s own work?
Professionals are expected to showcase their own work and build a portfolio that represents their skills, services and experience.
Can I contact or book with someone I find?
Depending on the professional’s profile and membership, you may be able to access their contact details, social links, website or booking link directly from their profile.
Does Stylebook Directory take bookings?
Stylebook Directory helps you discover and connect with professionals. Where a professional provides a booking link, you’ll be directed to their chosen booking system.
Does Stylebook Directory recommend one professional over another?
No. We’re here to give professionals visibility and give you the freedom to browse their work and make your own choice.
Is Stylebook Directory free for the public?
Yes. You can browse and discover professionals without paying to use the Directory.
I’m looking for someone for a very specific service. Can Stylebook help?
That’s exactly what it’s designed for.
Rather than relying solely on a general internet search, you can explore work from professionals within the industry and find someone whose portfolio matches the service or look you’re searching for.
Who can join Stylebook Directory?
Stylebook Directory is for professionals working across the hair and beauty industry who want to showcase their work, skills and professional identity online.
Why should I create a Stylebook profile if I already have social media?
Social media and a professional directory serve different purposes.
Your social media followers may already know you. Stylebook Directory is designed to help you become searchable and discoverable by people actively looking for professionals and services.
It’s your professional portfolio — not your personal social feed.
Do I need my own salon?
No. Stylebook Directory isn’t just for salon owners.
Whether you’re employed, self-employed, freelance, mobile, renting a chair, part of a salon team or running your own business, you can build your professional presence.
Can I join if I work within a salon?
Yes. Professionals can have their own profile and, where applicable, be connected with their salon or business.
This means your work can represent you as an individual professional as well as the salon you’re part of.
What happens if I move salons?
Your professional portfolio belongs with you.
Stylebook Directory has been designed so professionals can build their own identity rather than losing their entire digital presence every time their employment changes.
What should I upload?
Upload high-quality images of work that genuinely represents what you do and the clients or opportunities you want to attract.
Think of your profile as your digital shop window.
Why are categories and information on my images important?
The information you add helps people understand and discover your work.
A beautiful image is important, but accurately describing and categorising that image can make it far more useful when someone is searching.
Can clients book me through my profile?
Eligible profiles can include links that help potential clients move from discovering your work to contacting or booking with you.
Can I see how many people are viewing my work?
Stylebook Directory provides analytics features that can help professionals understand the visibility and engagement their profile and work are receiving.
Can I use my Stylebook profile as a portfolio?
Yes. Your profile gives you one professional place to showcase your work and can be shared with potential clients, employers and industry contacts.
Is there a free option?
Yes. Stylebook Directory offers a basic free listing, with additional features available through professional membership options.
I’m looking for work. Can Stylebook Directory help?
Yes. Stylebook Directory isn’t only about attracting clients.
Professionals can use the platform to showcase their work and professional identity, while recruitment features help connect people who are looking for work with businesses looking for talent.
I’m an employer. Can I use Stylebook Directory to find staff?
